Despite a booming tourism industry, Siem Reap province remains one of the poorest in Cambodia with negligible amounts of economic prosperity reaching those in the countryside. Jasmine Lodge has attempted to rectify this where possible with its ‘pro-poor’ employment, tour and food policies. Kunn employs eight permanent members of staff (6 general, 1cook and 1 laundry) and all have been recruited from villages outside of Siem Reap (Kunn: “Tourism does not reach there”). All eight employees receive accommodation and training, and can go to school locally. They also receive $40 per month in salary. These staff benefit from on-the-job English language training, through interaction with guests, as they go along.More story

Ox cart is local Cambodian famers transportations

1st day: After breakfast in Jasminelodge take a tuk tuk going to take village and get the oxcart tour before you getting on the ox cart .the driver will teach you how to use ox turning left and right and oxcart driver will sit at the back of you and teach you behind.

Lunch: local famly.ox cart is traditional khmer trasportation for doing farm.the Cambodian ox or buffalo always feeding use for pulling the oxcart and plough share doing farm and ox cart now can use it for tourists . After the ox cart trip the tuk tuk driver will take you to see self help community and then talk to the children are learning in village and they have ever seen tourists and now you bring the reality to make them want to study more.
